What is an accounting receipt?
Many organizations are involved in the maintenance of accounts of the customers. This is mostly done in a financial institution and particularly in banks. In such business entities, there is a need to keep a record of each individual account of the customer. The customer too needs to have a proof of his account and the activities that are going on in the course of action. So an accounting receipt is a similar document that helps fulfill this need.
It is a formal written document that is provided by the business organization or financial institution like a bank to their customers who maintain their accounts in these companies.
The working of this document or cash receipt is very simple. Whenever the client carries out a transaction in the account, it will be recorded on this document. The receipt will be provided to the client and all the details of the particular transaction will be mentioned in it.
For example, if you maintain an account in a bank, you may withdraw and deposit money in it on regular basis. Therefore you will need to have a record of all the transactions with you so that there is no discrepancy or mistake in the account later on. Every time you carry out a transaction, the bank management will issue a receipt to you as a proof of the transaction. Basic contents of the receipt template will include:
- Amount of deposit or withdrawal
- Date and time
- Name of customer and account
- Employee name who dealt with the transaction
Below is sample format of account receipt given for your assistance. Utilize it for the purpose mentioned above.
